On August 20th, the second day of school, and two days after her 10th birthday, our daughter, Kinsley Darrah, started noticing her neck turned to the side and her right arm got stiff periodically throughout the day. Due to her fear of doctors, she didn't tell anyone and kept to herself so no one would notice.  On September 7 I noticed her having an episode and asked her to explain what was going on.  We initially thought it was dystonia, a condition I have and it is genetic.  We started keeping track of her episodes very closely.  We went to Boise to see a neurologist on September 25.  The doctor thought she was suffering from dystonia also, blood work was done for dystonia and we are still waiting for the test results.  He prescribed Baclofen, which helped tremendously.  Kinsley went from 16 episodes a day down to 1, and sometimes 0, a day.  On October 14, I awoke at 2:00 AM to the camper shaking and I could hear Kinsley gurgling.  As I got to Kinsley she was in a full blown seizure.  She was on her stomach and her entire body was shaking and she was still gurgling.  Her head was off the bed and hitting the wood part of the bed and I couldn't get her head back on the bed, due to her stiff body.  I called for Kevin and when he got to her she was still seizing.  Kinsley stopped shaking and we got her out of bed to the floor but she couldn't move at all for a couple of minutes and then became very dizzy.  Right when I think we are moving forward we go backwards.  I called her neurologist and he is ordering an EEG and said that the seizure is not dystonia related.  Kinsley is very self conscious and doesn't want anyone to see her while in an episode.  We are trying to keep her happy but she is just so overwhelmed with all of this.  Thank you for your help and concern and the money donated will go towards travel expenses to Boise for testing and doctor appointments.  Thank you for sharing our journey.
