Kinsley is a “micropreemie” who was born 14 weeks early at 1 lb, 8 ounces in an emergency delivery due to her mother becoming seriously ill after developing preeclampsia with HELLP syndrome in her 25th week of pregnancy. Due to complications associated with her extreme prematurity, Kinsley has been hospitalized in the NICU since she was born on June 25th, 2020 and will continue living in a hospital setting for months to come. She has been diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease of Prematurity, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Pulmonary Hypertension, Pulmonary Vein Stenosis, Atrial Septal Defect, and Bronchial Malacia along with several other more minor conditions. Due to her complex medical profile, Kinsley has required multiple surgeries and procedures in her short 8 months of life including open heart surgery, two cardiac catheterizations, feeding tube placement, and most recently a tracheostomy. She also had to undergo chemotherapy beginning at 5 months old. The younger someone is when they are diagnosed with Pulmonary Vein Stenosis, the worse the prognosis is, and since Kinsley was diagnosed as a baby, her disease is extremely aggressive and she is at high risk of recurrence. This means that she will likely need several corrective surgeries/procedures per year. When Kinsley is finally ready to be discharged from the hospital and able to live at home, she will require the support of a ventilator along with other heavy duty medical equipment and at-home nursing staff.
Kinsley’s parents, Brendan & Danielle Grant, have been with Kinsley every step of the way. Danielle has not returned to work in order to be with Kinsley in a time she needs her most. After nine months in the hospital, and endless tests and procedures, we want to help alleviate the stress of the medical bills for two of the most generous and kind hearted people we know. ❤️
