Kingston on Murray Caravan Park Flood Relief
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joel.
My family has suffered a recent tragedy; my auntie and uncle are the owners of a caravan park in South Australia and have recently been forced to evacuate their business 'Kingston on the Murray Caravan Park'.
Geoff and Barb are probably some of the loveliest and most hardworking people you could ever meet as is evidenced by some of the outstanding reviews of their park. They work every single day of the year and go above and beyond to help others, when the floods were coming down river Geoff and Barb did not just build a levee bank to save their own house but they spent their life savings (~$300,000) and more to build a levee bank around all the residents of the park to try and save their homes as well. Unfortunately, the floods have proven far bigger than first predicted by the government and last week Geoff, Barb and all the residents of their family park were forced to evacuate in the middle of the night, on Barb’s very Birthday to top it off.
Sadly, this is not only the second flood they have experienced since taking over the park 6 years ago but just one of many tragedies they have had to experience. Over the last 3 years, Geoff and Barb have had the park closed due to the pandemic multiple times and all the while both battling cancer at different stages. Barb has had cancer three times and each time has taken the route that she does not have enough time to sit around sick or go through a full bout of chemotherapy so has opted to simply have surgery and remove everything so she could be back at the park within the week working and supporting her husband Geoff.
And whilst Geoff and Barb have worked hard and been the best people possible, they have now lost everything through no fault of their own. These floods have been the last straw after years of struggling to get back into the positive. And overnight their business, their income, their home, and the family they shared the park with is gone. There is no end in sight to when this water will recede and they deserve better. And we dearly want to help them and give them something back for all the years they have helped us and others during hard times. Barbara is still undergoing cancer treatment and is well overdue for a hospital visit so we would like to help them at least put food on the table and pay some of their bills during this disaster so they can have at least a glimmer of a decent Christmas knowing how much they mean to us all.
So, I would like to ask everyone, if you can, please join us in giving Geoff and Barb a hand over Christmas, any donation big or small would mean the world.
Thank you in advance and very much appreciated for taking your time to read, share or donate, Joel.
