Kingston Lee Nelson

Dear Family, Friends, and Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the passing of my only son Kingston Nelson. For those of you that knew him, you knew that he had a relentless spirit. Kingston was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with FIRES (Febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome).

(FIRES) is a rare catastrophic epileptic syndrome that strikes previously healthy children aged 3-15 years and has an unknown pathogenesis and few treatments. FIRES is also resistant to conventional seizure medications.

We were making great progress with therapies to help stop the seizure activity in his brain, however, with a compromised immune system, Kingston caught a life-threatening bacteria infection called Sepsis. The infection spread throughout his body.

Kingston passed on January 10th, 2023 at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas; a day I will never forget. Kingston fought till the very end — so much so, that none of us thought it was the end just yet. He was 4 years old.

They — meaning anyone — will tell you that you should prepare for death. Death is inevitable. No one is too good to beat it. Well, Kingston deserved to, if anyone. He brightened the lives of so many with his smile and courageous spirit.

He was so rare. Heaven truly gained an angel to be reckoned with — in the best way.

As you can imagine, my family was not at all prepared for the financial burden that comes along with a proper funeral service and burial. That is why I am reaching out to you all in hopes that you’ll show your support. Not for me, but for Kingston.

We are planning a modest but proper ceremony, burial, and repass. Every little bit helps.

Thank you so much for considering donating and for taking the time to read about my sweet Kingston. He loves you. I mean it, even if he didn’t know you directly.

Here you will find a link to the fundraiser we have started for the funeral. As you can see our goal is $10,000 and we hope to raise this amount by January 18, 2023.

Please keep us in your prayers.
