Kevin O'Leary presents William Shakespeare's King Lear!
2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, the world's greatest playwright. All over the globe, artists will be honoring this moment - quite literally an event of a lifetime. To commemorate this historic and universal experience, Kevin O'Leary has assembled one of the finest company of actors Maine has ever seen to perform one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, King Lear, set to open May 19th, 2016 at Portland Ballet Studio Theatre. Mr. O'Leary invites you to share in this great enterprise starring two pillars of the Portland, Maine theatre scene: Michael Howard as King Lear and Tony Reilly as Gloucester. Also represented in this one of a kind production will be Rob Cameron as Regan, JP Guimont as Edgar, Ian Carlsen as Cordelia, Peter Brown as Goneril, Mark Rubin as Albany, Corey Gagne as Kent and Kevin O'Leary as the Fool. This production boasts the first all-male Shakespearian cast seen in southern Maine in over a quarter of a century. To honor the spirit of Shakespeare's time and London's 17th century theatre world, Mr. O'Leary and his director Daniel Burson are going "old school", performing King Lear the way Shakespeare's audience would have experienced his plays 400 years ago. Get on board by donating, as we strive to raise $1,623, (to symbolize the year the First Folio was created, in 1623!). Help bring this production to an appreciative and hungry theater community! That's Kevin O'Leary's all-male company of William Shakespeare's King Lear, opening May 19th, 2016 at the Portland Ballet Theatre Studio on Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine.
