Hi, we are a group of volunteers that have just returned from teaching at King'eero Primary School in Kabete, Kenya. Since visiting the school and seeing the circumstances that the children are educated in, we decided we need to do something to help.
Their most critical challenge is that their only borehole—the school’s main source of water—has become dirty. This is because they don't have the funds to maintain it, so over 600 children, along with teachers and staff, are drinking unfiltered water that is brown in colour daily.
This borehole once provided clean water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and sanitation. Now, with it being dirty and in need of professional cleaning and maintenance, the students are made vulnerable to water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. This consequently impacts their health, hygiene, and ability to come to school and learn.
Another major challenge they are facing is not having the funds to replace old and broken furniture. Their current desks and chairs have nails and splinters coming through the surface, risking injury to the children, needing to be replaced urgently. There are Year 6s using desks made for the size of Year 3s, causing discomfort and giving them no storage space for their belongings.
With your help, we can get the kids clean water and new furniture. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a big difference. Every child deserves the right to clean water and a safe environment in which to grow and learn.
Please donate and share this campaign. Let’s help King'eero's children to thrive.
Thank you for your ongoing support! Updates will be posted on this GoFundMe and @kingeerofundraiser on Instagram.
