King is a 6 month old Cane Corso who has been diagnosed with an intra hepatic liver shunt.
He has been through so much in a short period of time.
King was previously hospitalized for asperation pneumonia he was at the hospital for three days. His heart was enlarged, his right lung was consolidated with fluid, which had a total cost of 4,000 with all the treatments and follow ups King slowly fully recovered from the pneumonia. Two weeks later he started declining again.
He wasn't holding his food he was constantly vomiting I thought it was because he had been on antibiotics for too long or because we kept changing his diet! That wasn't the case...
On one of his follow ups there was an anusal finding on the xray.
King needed an ultrasound to determine what was happening in his GI Tract that also had a major cost of 800. King was then diagnosed with a intra-hepatic portosystemic liver shunt.
King system is unable to do what a normal pets system is able to do: In a normal pet, the blood that exits the intestines, spleen, and pancreas enters the portal vein, which then takes blood to the liver. The liver metabolizes and detoxifies this blood.
King is unable to remove the toxins and bacteria on his own. It is circulating back to his heart and will eventually affect his other organs and brain.
For now king is eating home made meals that I prepare for him with love. It is A LOT of work being a larger breed he can't have any protein so I have him on a VEGAN diet!!! He is also taking medication twice daily (METRONIDAZOLE) and (LACTULOSE)
I also buy him ALKILINE WATER to help his system.
King desperately needs this surgery, like I mentioned before, all of his other organs will start shutting down and will have a major affect to his brain.
King was referred to UC Davis in Northern California where they have successfully performed this type of surgery. There is not a vet here in Southern California that can perform this critical surgery.
Please help me save King! He is the most sweetest and loving dog. I guarantee if you'd meet him you'd fall in love with King. King is a true warrior fighting for life!
