It took a team of people to save this horse. Getting the owner to surrender took some time. King is roughly 30 years young he and was found emaciated in a pasture all alone. As is common with senior horses, King Willie has few teeth left to chew hay, grass, or traditional grain. Although he had some food around him, he was essentially starving to death. This coupled with the harsh winter weather created a very dangerous and urgent situation for King Willie.
Since arriving at Dream Haven, King Willie has received a thorough evaluation from an equine vet, and was started in a new diet of soaked hay pellets, senior grain and beet pulp. Unlike his previous diet, he is now able to swallow and digest this soupy mash meal, which he gets 4-6 times a day. Feeding a senior horse is not easy and the cost adds up quickly. I'm raising funds to help pay for his vet bills and all his necessary feed. Any donation will directly make an impact on his care. Thanks in advance for your contribution. The Farmers CO-OP in Waynesville has opened up an account for Dream Haven if anyone wants to donate directly for feed. [phone redacted]
