King of Kings Trip to the National Youth Rally

Hello, my name is Josh Robertson. I am the 3-5th Grade Teacher and Athletic Director at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Garden Grove, CA. I also serve the Church and School as the Youth and Family Elder, evangelism team member, 20s/30s Coordinator, Cross-cultural ministry representative, usher, and coach. We are a small church and school of 200 with big dreams. In the next five years, we hope to be a trilingual (currently bilingual) congregation. We hope to have an accredited school of over 100 kids. We pray to have a preschool of around 50. We hope to have a ministry offering for every age level, and we hope to have a youth group of 30 teens. These goals focus on the sole mission and reason, bringing the message of Christ and salvation won to more people. We are working very hard to lay the foundation for these lofty goals and pray the Spirit blesses our efforts with an immense growth of the kingdom.

Our youth group restarted 1.25 years ago with 15 teens and a desire to make meaningful connections with our Savior and with each other. We have been meeting weekly for bible study and monthly for fun or fundraising. We have been participating more regularly in worship services. These dedicated teenagers have been doing this while keeping up with a jam-packed academic and social calendar.

Next month, we hope to make a trip to Tennessee with seven teens and three adults for the WELS International Youth Rally. We will be studying the Book of Esther at this rally to learn about the purpose that the Father created us for, Christ has redeemed us for, and the Spirit is leading us towards. On this trip, our team will connect with kids their age from across the country, they will have entertainment and worship meant to uplift and encourage them, and they will grow closer to their Father, and our group will grow tighter and continue to grow.

Due to our busy schedules and the cost of travel, we have come up a bit short on fundraising, and we are running low on time. Many of our families cannot afford extra trips like this in the budget. We understand that many families and individuals do not have much to give in the current state of the economy, but If you feel moved to support this trip and our group, please do. The funds will support travel and admittance to the event.
