King Lane Park Memorial for Layth

I have created this page in memory of Layth who meant a lot to my daughter and many others. He sadly passed away in April this year and left everyone in shock.

The aim is to raise enough money to plant a tree, with a plaque in his honour, at King Lane Park. If we raise enough, we can add a new piece of playground equipment at the park as well. He loved to visit there most days after school with his friends and it was also where the balloon release in his memory was, after he passed away.

As most of you will know, he was a popular boy in the community loved by many. His death at just 12 years old shocked and saddened not just everyone who knew him and but the wider community.

I have set this page up on behalf of my daughter and some of his close friends. They are solely responsible for this lovely gesture, which demonstrates the maturity and caring nature to the full. I am really proud of them to be doing such a lovely thing in Layths honour. What a lovely idea!

They have decided to fundraise so that they can have somewhere to visit and to remember Layth and to ensure he is not forgotten.

We have spoken to the Alwoodley Parish and Leeds City Council, who have already given permission for both the tree and the playground equipment. Councillor Dan Cohen has also given his support to this great idea.

If you can donate anything, however small, it would be greatly appreciated. In turn, there will be many benefits for the Parish of Alwoodley from this request, but most of all, it will be a fitting place for his family and friends to visit.
