Hi everyone, thank you for being here and for loving Buddy like family.

Buddy is our 8-year-old (almost 9) golden retriever and the goofy, happy heart behind this page. He’s the dog who has made so many people smile on hard days and right now, we’re the ones asking for a little help for him.

Just before we left for our vacation in Hawaii, we found a lump in Buddy’s lower stomach area. We didn’t want to take any chances, so we had him seen immediately and booked the appropriate testing and imaging.

We have now received Buddy’s CT results, and the findings were worse than we expected. The scan showed a mass on his scapula (shoulder blade), and there are changes in his lungs that our veterinary team is concerned could be related. At this point, we are being referred to specialists and an oncologist, and the next step is further diagnostics, including getting samples/biopsies so we can confirm exactly what’s going on and build the best plan for Buddy.

The hardest part is that Buddy has zero symptoms. No cough, no change in energy, no change in appetite, he’s still his happy, affectionate, goofy self. He’s currently safe and loved at home with Grandpa, and we’re flying home right away to be with him and start the next steps as quickly as possible.

This GoFundMe is to help cover the costs of Buddy’s medical care as we move forward, including things like:

1) CT scans and related imaging

2) Biopsies/samples and lab testing

3) Specialist and oncology consultations

4) Follow-up diagnostics and treatment planning

5) Medications and supportive care as needed

We will share updates as we learn more and continue to make decisions based on what’s best for Buddy’s comfort and quality of life. Above everything, our focus is keeping him happy, comfortable, and feeling loved for as long as possible.
