Hello, my name is Melissa, and I am here to ask for your help for my beautiful best friend, Kim.

Kim is a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse at Emory John’s Creek Hospital in Georgia. She has saved thousands of Newborn Babies’ lives, possibly for a family you know.

In her 30 years as a Nurse, she has held and comforted her tiny Patients and Parents through the toughest of life’s battles, terrifying moments, and heartbreaking loss.

Today, Nurse Kim needs our help.

In August 2023, Kim was diagnosed with a rare tumor in her left leg that is known to spread cancer throughout the body. She underwent weeks of radiation with no effect on the tumor. On Monday, October 30, 2023, Kim had surgery to remove her tumor.

Unfortunately, Kim’s tumor had wrapped around her fibula and the nerve supplying feeling for her lower left leg and foot. The surgeon removed the tumor, the nerve, a portion of her fibula and reconnected the surrounding muscle tissue that was cut during the operation.

She lost a significant portion of her lower left leg and movement of her foot. Kim’s road to recovery will be long and painful, physically, emotionally, and financially.

I met Kim in 2009 when our sons played football together. We have been besties since day one. She is one of the funniest people I know. We laugh and laugh and laugh every time we are on the phone and together. We literally joked once that "we are such losers, we can't even catch cancer!", lol. That's Kim and I. I wish you knew her like I do.

I've watched Kim struggle every single month to keep her three children under a safe roof, in great schools, sports programs, fed, clothed, and loved.

Kim would never ask anyone for help. I expect her to have mixed feelings about me doing this, but I am 100% confident that this disease and operation has and will affect her physically, emotionally, and financially, and she needs our help!!!

The funds raised here will be for everyday bills and meeting the basic needs of herself and her children for the next few months. Moving expenses may be necessary in the not-to-distant future as well. Thankfully, most of her medical care is covered by her group insurance.

And finally, the funds raised here will buy her financial peace, which I know she desperately needs in order to rest and heal properly. DESPERATELY!!!
