Hi, my name is Danie Smith,from London Ontario. I am humbly reaching out for support on behalf of my cousin, Jeremiah, who is currently fighting for his life in the ICU,in the Philippines. The family have used all their financial resources and maxed out insurances and is needing more help.

Just over a week ago, he came down with what seemed like an ordinary flu — but it quickly progressed into Autoimmune Encephalitis, a rare and life-threatening condition that causes the immune system to attack the brain. The swelling and damage it causes can lead to confusion, seizures, loss of memory, difficulty speaking or moving, and changes in consciousness.

Today, Jeremiah’s condition has worsened. He has slipped into a coma, is now declared brain dead, and remains on life support. Our family is devastated, yet holding on with faith, praying and believing for a miracle. We’re not ready to let go, and we continue to trust in God’s healing power.

Jeremiah is one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. Even as a child, he carried a gentle, compassionate heart. Raised in a home of missionary and pastors, He learned to be resilient, hopeful, and strong. Despite the hardships, he always dreamed big — and he achieved so much.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, became a hardworking and dependable employee, and faithfully supported his family in the Philippines. He is the kind of son, cousin, and friend who shows up for others without hesitation.

Now, it is our turn to show up for him.

He has been admitted at MetroDocs Hospital in Cainta, Philippines since November 11. The medical expenses have become overwhelming. Daily medications alone cost at least ₱6,000 ($102 USD) and often more. Nursing care begins at ₱10,000 ($170 USD) per day, and emergency IV treatments can reach ₱50,000 ($850 USD) in a single day. His hospital bill has already reached ₱300,000 ($5,100 USD) and continues to grow rapidly.

This unexpected tragedy has placed a heavy emotional and financial burden on our family. Yet even in this painful time, we hold onto hope and cling to God’s promise that He is our healer, our provider, and our strength.
