Hi, my name is Luther, and I am trying to raise money for my mother, Jo Carole Harris. She was recently the victim of a telephone sweepstakes scam. She was told she was to receive winnings, and in order to unlock them, she was instructed to purchase gift cards at CVS. They were able to obtain her banking information, and now, all her savings are gone, and her bank account has been frozen. Though I see my mother every week, she never told me what happened. I was actually informed of the scam and the amount she was taken for (approximately, $16,000) by social services, who my mother did reach out to. My mother taught Kindergarten for almost 50 years and continued to substitute teach into her 80's. She is a long time member of St. Pauls A.M.E. church, in Berkeley, CA. I'm hoping between her church family and her thousands of former students, we can find her some support. Thank you for reading this.

My mom is now 84 years old, and unfortunately, seniors are intensely targeted. I hope that by sharing this, someone is able to prevent a loved one from falling victim to this type of scam.
