KinderCare Foster City Teachers
Donation protected
In light of COVID-19, the County of San Mateo issued a shelter-in-place order. While daycare operations were technically excluded from the order, KinderCare Foster City made the difficult decision to suspend operations for 3 weeks. While this makes it difficult for parents, we believe it was the right decision and in the best interests of everyone.
Fortunately for parents, KinderCare will not be collecting tuition during this time. However, the teachers are not so fortunate. During this 3-week period, they are technically unemployed. While KinderCare has provided them with access to information and resources, they will nonetheless bear the financial burden of this closure.
Our son Grayson Kim has been going to KinderCare for over a year now. This was his 3rd daycare before turning 7 months old, and we could not be more thankful that we ended up here. From the beginning, every one of the teachers and staff has been so nurturing and kind. Grayson adjusted to KinderCare so quickly, and it's in no small part due to the teachers. Each one of them knows every child's name, and we truly believe they treat each child as their own.
We also know our experience is not unique. We've seen so many other children thriving there, every day. It means the world that we can leave Grayson there all day without any reservation, knowing he's going to receive the best possible care, by the best people.
We cannot, in good conscience, stand by and let the teachers bear this burden alone. While we as parents may need to arrange for alternate child care or more flexible work schedules while our children are at home, ultimately, we're going to be fine and make it work. The same can't be said about all of the teachers. So, we are asking for parents who are able to contribute to this campaign in order to help offset the teachers' loss of income during this difficult time.
