My name is Julia. I’m a 12-year old and I’m doing this for my preschool teacher, Sandi (though my dad set up this account).  Over the years, I’ve met a lot of teachers. Out of everyone, Sandi McCreadie has been my absolute favorite.

Sandi has helped many students over the years, such as me, with her teaching. Thistlegarten, her school, is a safe place to learn. Students find friends that last a lifetime there. I still have some of those relationships even though we don't go to the same school! Young children need a good first impression of what learning might be like, and Thistlegarten provides an excellent example of that. From my experience, having attended Thistlegarten eight years ago, I still believe to this day, that she was the best teacher I have had in my life.

As this pandemic takes an economic toll, she, like many others, has been struggling with income. Parents have taken their kids out of preschools and have been cautioned to stay at home.

Running a school has many fixed costs (such as rent). In addition, there are other, more personal issues that Sandi has to take into account, such as food, healthcare, etc. 

Everyone has been trying to adapt to this new lifestyle, and this new normal, but it takes a larger impact on those who rely on others for their income. This means that jobs such as owners of independent schools, especially schools for younger students, no longer offer as much income.
