As most of you know, Kim Murphy is fighting breast cancer right now. More specifically, Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), an agressive, hormone negative form of the disease: TNBC Infomation . Kim is my amazing sister-in-law, mother to my niece, Claire, and married to my brother, Matt.

The tolls of breast cancer are many, but the one that's overlooked most is the financial toll. It's easy to think, "Well, they have good jobs! They have health insurance!" and imagine that all is well. But the sad truth is, health insurance only covers so much, and with co-pays, hospital visits, extra drugs that aren't covered to counteract the reactions to the chemo, time off work, flights to MD Anderson, treatment plans that insurance outright denies, etc., all on top of your daily responsibilities, the costs mount. Once the financial toll adds itself to the emotional and physical tolls, things feel like they are about to unravel at the seams. We don't want them to feel this way.

This is where you and this fund come in. Many of you have reached out to me to ask how you can help and I told you we would worry about it later. Now is that time. The medical bills continue to pile on. Matt and Kim are not the type to ask for help and will probably be embarassed I'm doing this, but it needs to be done. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be a huge help to Matt and Kim during the next few months while they spend more time in Houston for Kim's surgeries and continued treatment.

A few examples of what the funds raised through this site will be used for:
-Surgery and Reconstruction costs that are not covered by insurance
-Lodging for the Murphys in Houston for the time they will need to spend at MD Anderson during recovery
-Travel costs back and forth to MD Anderson
-Bills and expenses that will add up while Matt is out of work caring for Kim (and Claire)
-Any other unanticipated costs that come along with this fight
Please note that any funds collected that the Murphys do not need to cover the costs outlined above will be promptly donated to breast cancer research, specifically TNBC research.
