Dear friends, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart.

For those who don’t know me personally, my name is Juliana Fernandes, and together with Jair Lourenco Gurgel, we are the owners of Kimura headquarters our Jiu-Jitsu academy in Brazil.

It’s with a heavy heart that I share some very difficult news. Kimura Matriz was broken into over the weekend, during the holiday. They took nearly everything they could find — products from the store, computer, cameras, cell phone, fans — and caused significant damage to the physical structure we’ve worked so hard to build.

What hurts even more is that this was the second break-in in less than two months. The first time, they stole our air conditioner. And now, this new incident has left us feeling even more shaken.

We’ve done everything within the law to try to identify those responsible. But unfortunately, we know how justice works in Brazil — it so often fails to protect honest citizens, leaving us once again as victims, without resolution.

It’s been a week since the incident. We waited until now, hoping we might recover at least part of what was taken — but sadly, nothing has been found. The feeling of helplessness is overwhelming, but we’re doing our best to move forward.
