Kimberly Neese Hardy Memorial Fund

My name is Donna Tyson and I am one of Kimberly's best friends, as she was mine. Myself, along with her boyfriend Bryan, her best friend Pauline and Kim's mom Kay,  are asking that you please take a few moments and read our brief snapshot of our sweet Kim and her son Garrett.
This fundraiser is for Kim's memorial fund, also to raise funds for her disabled son Garrett's continued medical needs. Our beautiful Kim had such a zest for life, she would light up a room with her mere presence. Kim's smile and laugh were radiant and infectious. Above all her dedication and deep beautiful love for Garrett was undeniable! Though the past 16 years have been full of struggles from losing everything from both hurricanes Rita and Katrina, her contsant fight for Garrett's well being, Garrett has a progressive condition called Lennox Gastaut, coupled with Autism. Garrett was having 100+ seizures in a day, rarely slept and was starting to show signs of uncontrolled violence. It was a struggle for Kim to hold down a job, as Garrett was not accepted into the public school system due to his disabilites.  Garrett was Kim's everything, her reason to breath, to keep up the daily fight with doctors, state assisted programs, etc. She spent all of her energy on making sure Garrett got the best of everything. Kim did not allow Garretts disabilities to slow them down. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. His sweet soul would be in the wood calling out "here, deer, deer, deer" of course they would not see a single deer...lol  Their love for music, watching the two of them sing together was magical. I know Kim would have liked for me to say a few words of thanks to a very special man. Garrett responded so strongly to the music of Country artist, singer/songwriter Chris Cagle.  Even in the earlier days where Garrett was still hard to understand it was clear when he would yell out..."I want Tris Tadle" a CD was popped in and the singing would start :) Chris, I know how much Kim appreciated the time you would take with Garrett, extra pictures, everything you would sign, your kind words, and your loving heart. Garrett was lifted up on to the stage at a show and latched right on to your leg. Even though you had just witnessed him go through a seizure backstage you kept him by your side and kept on singing. Kim adored you for all of your kindness to her and Garrett. Also, a special thanks to Chris' former Tour Manager Michael Nash for making it all happen.
We all still remember the day she realized that she needed more help with Garrett. After many months of searching and struggling with her own emotions Garrett was placed in a group home where they were well staffed with trained personnel, and had on site Dr's and nurses. This shattered Kim, she felt as if she failed as a mother. No, not a failure, a beautiful caring mother that made a selfless choice to do what was best for her son.  I hope in I can convey their beautiful relationship in some of the pictures I have picked for this page. Kim passed away peacefully in her sleep early Friday morning March 20th in Little Rock, Arkansas.  She had been dealing with some serious health issues for several months including , but not limited to kidney failure more than 5 times. In these months she had shared with her best friends, Pauline, myself and her boyfriend Bryan Herring that she could feel herself slipping away, that she was dying. Countless trips to the ER/ICU/CCU didn't give her any real answers. She received a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and kidney failure, among other things yet she was constantly sent home with blood pressure pills mild pain meds and that was it. Even with all the doors slammed in her face, denial of disability and the constant pain and worry, Kim wanted life, a life where she could get out of her house and spend time with Garret and her friends. Her time here with us was cut way too short. Myself, Bryan,Pauline and immediate family knew Kim's wishes. First and foremost, make sure Garrett was well taken care of and in a place where he could continue to thrive and have his medical needs met. She did not want to be cremated, and her wish was to be taken home to Louisiana to be laid to rest. At this time we do not know what is to happen with Garrett. We are heartbroken and scared. Garrett will now be in the custody of his father who is not at all familiar with his condition or his needs. We ask that anyone who sees our page will take a moment and send up words of comfort and if you can please help us raise the funds needed to get Kim home to Louisiana and ensure the best care for Garrett.

Thank you for taking the time to read our page. We hope that our sweet Kim touches you with her brief story as she deeply touched all of our lives.
