Updates: Thanks again for all your ongoing support! Hello my name is Jahmal, 18 years old. That's me in the photo on the right wearing the crazy yellow joggers. My brother Jahari, 14, is on the other side of my grandpa, in the black shirt. I want to thank all my mom's supporters for sharing their in-kind donations. I have started college in Savannah, and thanks to my mom, I was able to earn some money over the past summer and get available scholarships to help get me started. My mom wanted me to take down the site, however, friends and family have encouraged me to keep it running. So here we stay.
My mom, Kimberley is known to many as "Being Kimtastic"! As a self-employed real estate person, she works all the time helping people achieve their dreams of home ownership, and as she says "keeping people off the streets". I once heard my cousin say " that if anyone knows Kimberley, you will never be homeless" because my mom has always allowed people having issues to stay with us for long periods of time, to get themselves together. I remember her sleeping on the living room couch, so that others could sleep in her own bed. She is always helping people get jobs and offering great advice to family, friends and even strangers. Unfortunately, my parents divorced some time ago, and although my dad is close by, all too often his finances are limited.
I graduated from high school in May 2015, and decided to launch this campaign to do something great for my mom. Since my mom graduated and earned her BA in Undergraduate and her JD from Law School, she owes roughly $100,000 in student loans, and has a monthly obligation of $1000.00 in payments. Although, she doesn't tell people, my mom worries all the time of loosing her real estate license, if her loans go into default, and she has used up all her deferments. I didn't even know what that meant, until I googled it. My mom recently added an additional career offering financial planning and life insurance. This also requires her to have a license. She shares information on the importance of having life insurance to provide for your family if something were to happen. I've read stories from many people on this site raising money to bury loved ones or care for peoples kids. So sad they didn't meet my mom to help them out! Leaving a Legacy is her number one goal! In fact, I didn't even know you could loose a career license for non-payment of student loans, and ultimately loose your job. Since I am recently applying for student loan college assitance, I am terrified to even apply, knowing this is what I could potentially be facing in the future.
My mom has saved some money to start me off, because she too doesn't want me to have such a huge financial burden, as I continue in higher education. My brother and I worry about my mom, because she seems to always be working and never gets any rest.
Your kind donations and suppprt will be greatly appreciated, and I assure you if you ever get to meet my mom you will see why I am reaching out.
We love our mom, not just because she is our mom, but because of her "selfless ways" and she is truly "KIMTASTIC"!
