Kim’s Second Chance — Help My Mom Rebuild Her Life

Hi everyone,
I didn’t think I’d ever be writing one of these, but here we are. Kim, my mom, is 67 years old. She has severe COPD, is on oxygen full time, and recently lost the home in South Carolina that she has lived in for over a decade — along with the life she built during that time.
After the sudden passing of her long-term partner, my mom was left with no legal rights to the home they shared. Despite living there for 11 years and contributing to the life they built together, she was left without a safety net. She lost not only her home, but the financial stability she had left.
Now, she’s being forced to leave the only home she’s known in over a decade. She’s moving back to New York — with no savings, no home to return to, and declining health.
She didn’t want me to ask for help. She’s always been proud, strong, and resilient. But watching her go through this, I can’t stay silent. I’m asking for her — because honestly, what other choice is there?
She needs help — and she deserves it.
Every dollar raised will go toward:
- Helping her relocate safely
- Covering temporary housing
- Supporting her medical and oxygen needs
- Giving her a chance to start over with even a little dignity
If you’ve ever met my mom, you know how caring, funny and loyal she is. And if you haven’t — just know that she’s the kind of person who would never ask for this, but would do her best to give it to someone else without hesitation.
So if you’ve got $5, $10, or just the urge to spite the universe on behalf of a good person who deserves better — please consider donating.
Thank you so much for reading and for any support you’re able to offer. Even sharing this means the world.
Sincerely,
Hayley.
