Our daughter Kim (Kimmie) Loffman was severely injured Thursday October 13, 2016 near Apex Nevada. She was thrown backwards into the air about 25 feet from the ATV she was driving. In a single moment, her entire life has been turned inside out and upside down. She was taken to UMC in Las Vegas where she underwent surgery. Screws were placed in her hip to stabilize it. Other injuries include stress fractures to several of her vertebrae, several bulging discs, and numerous fractures to the front right side of her pelvic area. Kim is currently unable to walk. She is currently in a rehabilitation center where her arduous journey back has begun.
Kim has always been a very active, independent person. All of that has now changed. She began walking at nine months. She rode her first two wheel bicycle without training wheels when she was three years old. Kim does not smoke or do any kind of drugs. Her attitude and personality are always positive and upbeat. Kim is a great mom to her son Chance, and loves the outdoors. On her days off you’ll never find her sleeping in. Instead you’ll find her at the gym followed by excursions to the desert for long hikes, or rock climbing. When weather permits you’ll find her on the water somewhere paddle boarding etc. She works out diligently everyday (which probably saved her life), and lives an active healthy lifestyle. Over the past year or so she won a very competitive long distance paddle board competition (for which she trained extremely hard), and she helped raise money for cancer victims by having all of her hair shaved off. If a cause is “Just” you’ll find my daughter Kim, at the front of the line. Kim will go an extra mile for anyone in need. Earlier this year she told me about a woman she met near her workplace. The woman had recently become homeless and did not have a coat to wear to keep her warm, this troubled Kim greatly. On her next day off Kim sought out the woman, found her, and gave her one of her winter coats. That’s Kim in a nutshell.
Kim has been working at the Vdara Hotel on the Las Vegas strip for a number of years. She loves her job, her fellow employees, and she loves serving the guests who frequent the property. Kim would never ask for help, even now when she needs it the most. But this incident has deposited her at a major crossroad in her life. This incident has placed the rest of her life’s journey in question. So I’m asking those of you who can, those of you who know, love, and care about her to extend a helping hand to her, in her hour of need.
Your consideration and your prayers on her behalf are greatly appreciated.
Thank you, and God Bless You!
