My wonderful sister-in-law suffered a heart attack in the early part of 2016 and subsequently, underwent a triple bypass. She is not even 50 years old. Her heart problems are genetic. Her recovery was difficult, but she did everything her cardiologist told her to do and was able to finally return to work about 5 months later. My dear brother missed quite a bit of work, so that he could help take care of her during her recovery. He received some Family Leave, however, bills started piling up and their stress levels peaked...not condusive to a heart patient.
Just as they were able to see a bit of daylight, my sister-in-law had ANOTHER heart attack recently....2 of her bypass graphs did not hold and she had 2 stents placed. Again, she has done absolutely everything to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle and now she is off work AGAIN. Her cardiologist has recommended that if and when she returns to work (Customer Service Rep at a doctor's office), it will have to be part time...and his further recommendation is that she file for SSDI........which could be a lengthly process.
My brother and sister-in-law and their children, are just some of the best family I could ask for. If I could, I would pay their rent, utilities, whatever they need, for as long as they need it...but that's not possible....which is why I'm reaching out on their behalf.
It took quite a bit of convincing them to let me start this campaign, but their situation is going to get worse very soon. They fall into that catch-22 scenario..my brother works. His hours just got reduced and he doesn't make that much to begin with...however, they have been told by their county's social services that they make too much money! My brother has a few health issues in addition, which prevents him from finding more sustainable employment.
I pray that we can raise enough to keep their rent paid, utilities on, groceries and gas for my brother to get back and forth to work, until my sister-in-law can return to work part time temporarily and apply for permanent disability. Thank you all and God Bless.
