Kim's Heart and Hope Fundraiser

Hello. My name is Kelly and on October 30, 2024, my daughter Kim had two heart attacks at the age of 28. After being rushed from a local hospital to a more prominent hospital, UMass, and an emergency cardiac catheterization, a large clot was found blocking 100% of her left ascending artery. The clot was destroyed and a stent was introduced, as was an Impella pump to keep her heart working. Unfortunately, this was not working, and she was life-flighted to TUFTS in Boston for another cardiac support machine to be placed in her femoral arteries. She experienced many complications, including a torn artery, which required a separate surgery. Her heart had become unable to sustain her life, and she was placed on a transplant list. On November 30, she underwent the transplant, which was successful. She has continued to overcome many obstacles both physically and emotionally with such courage and grace that I am in awe of her. This New Year's, we received some good news that she will be transferring to rehab to continue her healing process. Afterwards, she will come home, and the next phase of her new world will begin. She faces monster medical bills and daily living expenses that will not be covered by the government disability check she will get for 16 weeks. After that, I'm not sure what will happen since this will be a lifetime battle. Kim has not given up one time since this all started and has decided to go back to school to be a nurse, like her mother, and wants to work with people struggling with addiction. If you know me, then you know asking for help is the most difficult thing for me to do, but for her, I will do anything. Thanks for any and all help that is so generously donated.
