Kim’s Story: A Mother and Grandmother, Who Needs Our Help

Hi everyone, I’m writing on behalf of my dear friend Kim. She is one of the most selfless, caring, and giving people I know. She’s a nurse by trade and has spent her life serving others — patients, family, friends, and neighbors. Now, after unimaginable loss and devastating health struggles, she is the one who needs help.

Kim’s life has been filled with love, family, and deep heartbreak. In 2018, she lost her 23-year-old son in a motorcycle accident. In May of 2023, she was diagnosed with a large brain tumor and underwent brain surgery. The surgery saved her life but left her with lasting challenges, constant pain, and debilitating daily headaches.

Through it all, Kim leaned on her support system: her partner, her daughter (who was also her best friend), and her two grandchildren. Her house was once filled with laughter, chaos, and love.

But in January 2025, Kim lost the love of her life and in one night, tragedy struck again. Her daughter became her rock, caring for her, supporting her, and putting her own life on hold to make sure Kim was okay. Then, just two months later in March, tragedy struck once again. Kim’s 32-year-old daughter suddenly collapsed and passed away. Even after every test imaginable, the medical examiner still has no answers. To lose her child so suddenly — and with no explanation — has left Kim shattered.

Adding to this heartbreak, her two grandchildren had to move in with their father, leaving Kim’s once lively home feeling empty. What was once a family of five is now just Kim and her dogs.

As if this weren’t enough, in July 2025 Kim was diagnosed with lung cancer. She met with a thoracic surgeon who said she is not a surgical candidate. She will face chemotherapy and radiation. Cancer is now stage 4, is invasive, and is spreading rapidly.

Kim has always been strong. She has always been the one to give, to love, and to care for others. But now, she is overwhelmed. She is grieving, battling cancer, struggling with her health, and trying to hold onto what she has left. She is not the type to ask for help, but right now, she desperately needs it.

Hiring help and support for daily needs

Making sure she doesn’t lose her home during this difficult time

Kim still has a few wonderful friends and neighbors who help when they can, but this journey is too big for her to carry alone. She deserves peace, care, and support as she faces the fight of her life.
