Kim-Park Family – Devastating Syosset House Fire

The Kim-Park Family's townhouse in Syosset was severely damaged in a massive three alarm fire that destroyed seven attached townhouses a few days ago. Mary recently purchased their new house and she did a great job making a beautiful home for her, her daughter, and their two dogs. The fire started in a neighboring home but the flames spread and it took more than five hours for the fire department to extinguish the inferno. The entire second floor of Mary’s home was destroyed with the ceiling falling through and the first floor and basement were severely damaged. They are very grateful that everyone is alive and physically well, but Mary and her family have been displaced from their home. All of their furniture and belongings were either destroyed or unsalvageable. They are devastated by this catastrophe.

Mary has worked over 20 years as a staff attorney at The Legal Aid Society. Her daughter is a 7th grader in the middle school of Syosset, performed in her school's musical theatre, and is active on the CYO basketball and volleyball teams. They have two dogs, a 14 year old pug and an 8 year old beagle mix adopted recently from the North Shore Animal League. I work with Mary at Legal Aid and some of her colleagues have reached out to ask how they can help, so I am setting up this gofundme page as a place to collect any contributions people would like to make to help with the significant costs of financing alternative housing, getting furnishings, clothing, food and other necessities during this difficult time.
