Family trip for terminally ill girl
Donation protected
I am Zoe, 19 and my little sister Kimmy is terminally ill with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia.
Kim is only 16 but she really hasn't let anything faze her - if you met her you wouldn't think she was ill!! She completed her GCSE's (with As and Bs!!!!) whilst undergoing the first part of her treatment but has now had to drop out of college.
Since the diagnosis in May of last year both Kim and my Mum have handled the situation amazingly. With three different types of medication failing in a short space of time, my Mum has had to quit her job to support Kimmy. The only option now is for a bone marrow transplant.
My mum moved to the UK from Barbados over 20 years ago, after the family moved over there when she was young. She has no family and no support system here. It has been years since either my Mum or sister have seen our family. It would mean the world to them both to feel the support and encouragement that they deserve.
I'm hoping to raise enough money to surprise them with a trip to Barbados for a couple of weeks after Kim's treatment is at a point where she is, hopefully, a little more stable. I'm saving as much as I can but I'm a student so there is only so much I can do! Given the uncertainty surrounding her whole life, it's so important that my sister can see her family.
Anthing you can give is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
