Kimbo's Recovery: Love and Support Needed

Hello, my name is Rebbeca. My husband Austin and I are reaching out to you for our fur baby, Kimbo. Kimbo is 3 years old and always full of energy. He’s always trying to play with his sister Rey and our two dogs.

In recent events, Kimbo has begun spraying in the house and has become very vocal at night, leading us to take him to the vet to investigate why he was behaving this way. We came to find out that when Kimbo was neutered at the shelter he was rescued from, he was not correctly neutered, as he was a cryptorchid cat, and his testicles were still in his abdomen. The vet that performed the procedure did not inform us that the testicle was not removed and only blocked off the spermatic cord, allowing Kimbo to still have testosterone production.

On March 27th, Kimbo had surgery performed on him to remove the remaining testicle, which went all according to plan with no complications. Kimbo was released home the same day and was monitored and given pain medication as prescribed. The next morning, my husband went to check on him and noticed that he had been in the litter box but did not go pee at all. The vet was called, and we were informed to bring him back to the vet ASAP. My husband was told by the vet that Kimbo’s urethra was blocked and that he was unable to urinate due to mucus buildup and blood in his bladder. The vet informed my husband that it was not a direct complication of the surgery but from stress, which can be common for young male cats. The vet recommended that Kimbo stay at their facility for 2 days, one to clear out the blockage and place a catheter, along with pain meds, and another day to be monitored 24/7 to ensure that it does not block up again prior to him coming home to us. Unfortunately for my husband, a few years ago, Kimbo’s littermate that he adopted also had a blockage that was caught too late due to him being on shift for 24 hours at his fire department, and he sadly passed away from it.

This all has unfortunately occurred after a family loss and other personal expenses so we are extremely tight on money. We are willing to do anything to ensure Kimbo has a chance at a long, healthy, and happy life. The bill we were given is totaling around $4,000 with everything included. Anything you can assist with is greatly appreciated.
