The Backstory
Kimberly is one of the best RN's I've ever seen, she is a friend and a mom , an athlete all wrapped together in one kind, generous, beautiful soul. I've had the privilege of working with Kimberly for a number of years at the hospital. Over the years she has helped not only me, but many of us with everything from starting an IV when we were having a "bad IV day", to sharing her vast medical knowledge, to her endless kindness with her patients and coworkers and her humor when we really just wanted to cry, all of these wonderful qualities driven by her amazing positive spirit and work ethic.
The Accident
A few weeks ago, KC was enjoying the Seattle outdoors, trail riding a new bike and she ran smack into a pole in the middle of the bike trail. She was admitted to the hospital with a pancreatic tear and a Grade II liver lac. She initially spent 2 weeks in Harborview, recovering from her injuries , and the surgery that was needed . As sometimes happens there were complications to her surgery and she had more surgery and had to be readmitted to the hospital for more intervention. She still has drains in place, but they will hopefully come out soon.
The expense
When it rains it pours. KC has had some legal bills related to her divorce and is just starting the process to earning her Masters. Now the medical bills are starting to come in. She has banked some sick time, but not enough to get her anywhere close to April, when her medical team deems she may be able to go back to work " if things go well" .
The Spirit
Through all of this she has never complained and has kept that amazing positive attitude of hers . Besides being a single Mom, Kimberly makes a point of going out of her way to help not only at work, but at Church, in her community and her gym.

The Karma
Kimberly has helped so many over the years, now she needs a little help from us.
