Kimberly's Lyme Treatment

Hello, my name is Mary Pera, I am raising money for my best friend Kimberly Burkholder. Her and I met 25 years ago in our childhood neighborhood were we grew up together. Kimberly started experiencing symptoms from Lyme Disease when she was 14 years old but did not get diagnosed until she was 21 years old.

Kimberly suffered from random fevers, sprained wrist and ankles for the majority of her adolescent years requiring her to see a chiropractor frequently. She continues to suffer with debilitating symptoms some are; nerve pain, muscle pain, vertigo, reoccurring cyst, difficulty with speech, air hunger, and heart palpitations.

Insurance companies deny claims associated with Lyme Disease due to the guidelines issued by the Infectious Disease Society of America. As a result Kimberly and her family have to make difficult financial decisions in order for her to receive treatment.

Kimberly is currently on a protocol which uses a variety of herbal extracts that act as broad-spectrum remedies, exerting antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, and antifungal effects. One month of these herbs are $350.  She will also be going to a new doctor and starting IV Ozone treatments. 

Kimberly has tried a multitude of treatments and changes to her diet through the years, antibiotics, IV treatments, eating produce without chemical and additives, eliminating dietary triggers. It all is very overwhelming and her illness itself is extremely physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausting.

As I am sure, many of you know someone going through an acute or chronic illness. I am thankful a system exists where many are fortunate enough to receive care due to financial aide. Kimberly however doesn't fall under that category. As her best friend, sister in Christ, it is my prayer that she could get all the treatment necessary to rid her body of this life sucking disease.
