I’ve always considered myself generally healthy. Strong, good immune system, and rarely ever at the doctor unless absolutely necessary. I eat pretty well (minus my sweet tooth), so cancer was never something I really thought about.

For the past 2 years, I’ve been dealing with what I thought was lower leg compartment syndrome—swelling, intense pain, sleepless nights, and constant interruptions to my daily life and work. I tried everything to manage it on my own.

In January, my sister finally pushed me to get it checked out.

That decision changed everything.

An MRI revealed a 9.8 cm tumor in my leg, with concerns including osteosarcoma, metastatic and other malignant possibilities. I was referred to an orthopedic oncologist, and suddenly this became very real.

I sat in my car, had a good cry, and then said,

“Ok God… let’s do this.”

I never asked “why me.” It didn’t even cross my mind. I truly believe anyone can face something like this at any time. Now it’s my turn to face it—and I’m choosing to face it with faith, strength, and determination.

Since then, I’ve eliminated sugar, dairy, gluten, and wheat and I have lost 29 lbs!! Feels good to have a win! It’s been a whirlwind of appointments—CT scans, PET scans, biopsies—with more decisions and treatments ahead. I am working closely with my medical team while also educating myself and exploring additional supportive therapies to give my body the best possible chance to fight and heal.

The majority of these treatments and supportive care options are not covered by insurance, and the costs are adding up quickly.

That’s why I’m here.

Travel and recovery-related expenses

These expenses are currently over $50,000 !! As a self employed, hands on massage therapist,

missing a tremendous amount of work alongside travel expenses for treatment is a heavy burden. We are utilizing what loans we can get and a lot of faith right now to endure the fight and WIN !
