Kimberley Wildlife Rehabilitation

Kimberley Wildlife Rehabilitation is a not for profit organisation located in Broome, Western Australia.  KWR takes in sick and orphaned animals to rehabilitate and later release back into the wild. The species we commonly care for are Agile/NailTail Wallabies, Red/Euro Kangaroos , bats and a variety of birds with a focus on raptors. Some of the more rare species are the Golden-Backed Tree Rat, Spectacled Hared Wallaby, Bilby and Nabarleks.

Jan Martin, the founder of KWR, has been caring for wildlife and educating carers from the Broome community for over 3 decades; all of which has been run out of her own home.

Jan leads a small team of volunteers who share her vision to rehabilitate and conserve the Kimberley's unique wildlife.

Our goal is to build Broome's first wildlife hospital, where injured or orphaned wildlife can receive the best possible care before being released back into their natural environment.

We are very fortunate to have a bush block (pictured above) leased through DBCA (Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions).
We are however unable to apply for larger grants to establish the wildlife hospital without the basic accommodation facilities that must be provided  for our present and future volunteers, caretakers and carers.

Once the volunteer's accomodation is in place, we are eligible to apply for these larger grants to establish the wildlife hospital in addition to further enclosures, an education centre and breeding facility for local and endangered species.

Do you think you could help us build  Broome's first wildlife hospital?
