Help Kimba Study Abroad In Italy

My name is Kimberly “Kimba” Burton and I am a junior year film student at California State University Long Beach. I have been blessed by being accepted to study abroad in the film/arts program at the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute (LdM) in Florence, Italy for the spring semester of 2018 (January –May)! I have never left the U.S. before and am therefore ecstatic and grateful for this opportunity.

LdM’s tuition is $12,245 for the semester. Unfortunately, the cost of all food/meals, textbooks, airfare, laundry, transportation, visa application fees, and international cell phone service are all not included in the tuition price but are all necessary and unavoidable additional expenses for studying abroad which I will also have to pay for on top of tuition.

I do receive financial aid however it will only cover $6,000 of the tuition, which means I have a remaining $6,000 in tuition ($2,000 of which I have to pay upfront to secure my spot), plus all of the necessary additional expenses previously listed that I still will have to pay for. Furthermore, the entirety of the tuition is due before I begin school in January.

I created this GoFundMe page as a way to ask all of my friends, family, and wonderful community for their gracious and much-needed help, as I simply am not able to afford to go on my own.

More About Me:
I'm a studio artist as well as a filmmaker and photographer, which makes Florence the perfect place for me to study abroad due to the city’s extraordinary artistic historical significance. Studying abroad will be an enriching experience that will allow me to enhance my artistic creativity as well as strengthen my knowledge and appreciation of other cultures by immersing me in an environment where every moment I will be able to learn something new!

I currently have a 4.0 GPA and am on the President’s Honors List at CSULB and I intend to keep pursuing my high academic standards while abroad. While I am abroad I will continue to be a full-time student and will take 5 courses; including an Italian language course.

Other Ways To Support My Study Abroad Education:
If you would like to support my study abroad education in a different way, I also run an online Etsy shop http://www.artbykimba.etsy.com  and if you purchase anything from my shop, which consists of paintings, drawings, embroidered patches, vinyl stickers, and hair scrunchies, all of the money will also go directly towards my study abroad fund!  Use this the coupon code: STUDYABROADSUPPORT  to get 15% off your purchase as a thank you for helping me make my study abroad experience possible!

Furthermore, I am also available to do commissioned works of art (paintings, drawings, embroidery, etc.) for varying prices or customized Etsy orders.

Every little contribution counts and is immensely appreciated! Thank you so much for your help and all of your support!

While abroad I will post tons of videos and photo updates through various social media to keep everyone updated on all of my experiences abroad!
