As many of you may know Kima is our Basenji, he will be 2 in November. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old, hes definitely our baby! He's never had any major injury or illness. We'll about 2 weeks ago we noticed blood in his urine so we called the vet and made an appointment, after doing a urine analysis the vet said all his levels looked great and she thought he had a mild UTI. We were prescribed antibiotics and sent home. After taking the medicine for a few day Kima then began straining and pushing so hard to pee that he would fart,poop and cry. We decided that wasn't normal so we called the vet and she said we need to sedate him and take X-rays of his abdomen so we made that appointment. In the mean time Kima worsened, he soon became quarantined to the hardwoods because he couldn't hold his pee he is peeing 10-15 times every minute. Friday we had his X-rays taken and our vet had his x-ray sent to a specialist for a second opinion, the specialist found a bladder stone the size of a pea that had released from his bladder and is stuck right before his urethra. Our vet intern gave us 2 muscle relaxers to help relax Kima to hopefully help him pass the stone but unfortunately he just isn't capable of passing it and we're going to have to have it surgically removed.
For those of you who know us know that we aren't ones to ask for money but we both work full time to pay all our bills and this surgery definitely those a kink in our budget.
