My sister in law, Kim Tavenier (Kim Williams) is in need of a Lung reduction/Lung transplant surgery in order to give her a better quality of life. In May 2019 she had her first respiratory failure and a heart attack. She had a second respiratory failure and another heart attack in March 2020. It has been determined that she will need a lung transplant in order to prolong her life. She has been going through the stages of transplant and so far it is looking good that she will be approved for either the lung reduction first and then transplant or just the lung reduction. With either of these surgeries, it is going to require a long recovery for her. As many of you know, Kim is a single mom of three children, Zack (21) Zoe (15) and Zuri (12). She does have much family and friends support but will be in need of financial support in order to move forward with either surgery as this will require her to be off work for a minimum of 4 months after the surgery. She never thought that it would come to having to resort to some type of fundraising in order to give her a better quality of life for her and her children, but it has. We are planning on doing a variety of different fund raisers for her and the kids but will start here with a go fund me. These funds will be used for medical necessities such as pre-surgery expenses, insurance premiums while off work, prescriptions (which can be over $3,000.00 per month), and lost wages so she can take the time off work in order to heal her body afterwards. Unfortunately, she does not have the option for disability insurance with her employer and has continued to work full time from home since her respiratory failure. We are hopeful that we will be able to reach out to loved ones and persons that might be able to donate towards her journey which will be a long one for her and her children. We will keep everyone up to date on additional ways you might be able to help as we come up with different ideas and appreciate any suggestions anyone may have during this time of need. She has a wonderful network of family and friends who will assist her in her caregiving and this will be possible with the right planning and financial support she desperately needs at this time.
