Kim Smith Breast Cancer Support
Donation protected
We all know how many lives are affected by breast cancer, or cancer in general. Speaking from experience, one doesn't fully understand what that means until it happens to you or a loved one. My Mom, Kim Smith, was diagnosed last August with breast cancer. We quickly found out what comes with the terrible sickness, the compromises and misfortune that follow. She had to quit working almost immediately and was hit with financial hardships that one doesn't think about when you see a pink ribbon.
My Mom is not one to ask for help, accept help, or expect anything from others. She has lived selflessly for her children and her family. She's fighting a well-known battle but remains strong and silent in the shadows of it all. I wouldn't be surprised if friends weren't even aware of her diagnosis. A funding campaign wasn't even a thought in her mind and knowing she doesn't like too much attention, my Brother and I didn't jump to start one in her name.
However, as many of you know, she recently hit a low point in her battle and it shook our family to the core. It has become very obvious that additional treatments and natural alternatives not covered by her insurance are absolutely necessary. Also, getting closer to surgery and radiation, we can see that she will not be able to afford to follow through with her treatment plan in San Diego without some financial help. The travel alone is out of our reach at this point.
Our family would GREATLY appreciate any donation towards continuing my Mom's care. We want nothing more than to see her come out of this and to have the opportunity to live the life she has always deserved. We'd also like to ask for continued prayers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
