Life Changing Surgery For Kim Franklin

My sister, Kim Franklin is the kind of person who has always been willing to go above and beyond for others. She is a loving wife, mother, sister & friend.

On June 4th, 2023 when undergoing a preventative full body MRI, a 9 cm mass was found on Kim’s Sacrum. If you have been following along with the updates on social media, you know it has been a tough journey up to this point. While she was first diagnosed with Chordoma Sacrum Cancer, we are pleased to say the final pathology reports revealed otherwise. She has a Sacrum Schwannoma (a very rare tumor- only 51 cases have been reported in the world). Although positive, this is still going to require a full surgical removal. Her surgery is scheduled for September 6th at North Shore University Hospital in New York with Dr. Sciubba.

Kim originally contacted MD Anderson here in Texas but they required $30,000 upfront to have a tumor board meet to discuss her case. New York is not only the best doctor but the better financial burden.

Despite the challenges that lie ahead, she continues to approach each day with courage & determination to complete healing & recovery. Her resilience and strength inspire us all, and we are determined to fight this battle alongside her. She cannot do it alone and so many people want to know how they can help. This is why we have created this fundraiser. Together, let's rally around her and provide the support she needs in her fight.

Kim and her husband Randy will be traveling to New York for the surgery and will be required to stay there for the remainder of her recovery (projected two weeks) until she is cleared to travel back. Once she's home it will be a 6-8 week recovery. The challenges are many as they will not be able to work while out of state. Kim will be out of work for her entire recovery. Their two daughters will take over the businesses, but there will only be 2 working instead of 4. We know this will be a huge financial burden on top of the medical, physical & emotional impact this will have on the Franklin family.

If you know Kim, you know that she and Randy have always gone above and beyond for others both physically and financially. They have given to others even when they didn’t have it. They have touched the lives of so many and now it's our turn to touch theirs.

Although we can’t take away the physical or emotional stress that is to come throughout the coming weeks, we can help alleviate the financial burden. As you may know, these surgeries, treatments, travel expenses and hospital bills come at a steep cost.

Every dollar donated will go towards Kim’s medical expenses and travels for procedures and nothing else. There are no third parties involved as each donation will be deposited directly into Kim's account set aside for medical expenses.
