Kim Fawthrop's Ruptured Brain Aneurysm Surgery & Recovery
Donation protected
The past 24 hours have been the worst of my life. For family reading this for the first time, we are so very sorry that we do not have time nor the wherewithal to contact each and every one of you.
My sister and I were notified yesterday afternoon that our mother was being taken to Clare hospital in Michigan by ambulance for a severe migraine that has lasted days. My father couldn't even get her up to get her dressed when the paramedics arrived. Upon arrival, the initial scans showed a large ruptured brain aneurysm, and she was immediately rushed to a neuro specialist in Saginaw. While she made it through the first brain surgery at 4 am this morning, she has been completely unresponsive since. We do not have an outlook right now, other than it will be a long hospital stay regardless of if and when she becomes responsive again, and an even longer road for recovery at home if she's fortunate enough to regain basic functions such as talking and walking, which my dad will need to be by her side for. Only 1/3 of people who undergo this surgery make it out, and she is blessed to be in that category, the next 48 hours will be crucial to see if she regains any level of responsiveness.
While my family isn’t one to ask for help, we really need help. Even one week out of work for my father will put them in a detrimental financial state, to include home foreclosure. Every dollar collected will go towards their base bills, medication, therapy, medical payments, food, and gas for the next 2 - 3 months that he will need to be out of work to take care of our mother while also driving 160 miles to and from Saginaw daily to care for their pets at home.
From the bottom of our hearts, my sister and I sincerely thank you, we are doing everything we can to help hold up this massive burden that my father is going through, easing the financial panic for him to be able to be there for my mother is vital to us.
We are in shock and grieving, living a nightmare and feeling helpless for what is to come. For now we are taking the day a few hours at a time clinging to whatever update the hospital and staff can give us, which at this point has only been that while she has made it through surgery, she has remained unresponsive with no predictable outlook at this time.
