Dear Family and Friends:
Many thanks to all of you for your sincere concern, well wishes, and profound display of affection for Kim. He is indeed a very special person and it is abundantly clear just how much he has touched your lives.
For those of you who may not know, Kim had not been feeling well for several days. His condition continued to deteriorate to the point that it became critical for him to go to the emergency room Saturday, January 6th. While there, he was diagnosed with both the flu and an extreme case of pneumonia; he was immediately admitted.
The following Tuesday, it was deemed necessary to move him into the ICU for better treatment. He was placed in an induced coma, intubated, and given a paralytic to give his body the support it needs to heal. Friday, January 12th, he was transported to another hospital for even further care. We are continuing to have faith that his vitals will quickly improve so that he will be removed from the ventilator and continue the healing process.
Please know that, while he is very ill, Kim is a fighter.
As anyone who meets him knows, Kim is one of the most generous, caring individuals God has ever shared with us. He is also a very private, prideful person, who does not like much fanfare or attention; he has been that way all of his life. Dignity and humility are sewn into the fabric of his very core.
With that said, your good thoughts and prayers are what is needed at this time.
We have requested no visitation out of respect for him.
We anxiously await the day when we will celebrate his full recovery...and we'll do so whether he likes it, or not!
