Kim’s battle to defeat cancer

Hi , my name is Rachel Schmedding , best friend to Kimberly Busch who is 39 years old and an amazing mom to my wonderful 9 year old niece Katie! On February 19th she went to the hematologist for a routine anemia follow-up, she addressed a concern of my left breast being enlarged and extremely sore and hard. He did an exam and wanted her to see the breast surgeon that same week. The surgeon's off called her the following day to book a mammogram and ultrasound, and an initial appointment with the surgeon. The mammogram and ultrasound lead to a biopsy resulting in a diagnosis of Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. She was sent for a CT scan and a small spot was found on her spine.

I refuse to let this be the end of my story. I'm a single mom to an amazingly brilliant little girl who dreams to be a St Jude doctor. I am also a paraeducator for children on the autism spectrum as well as a Daisy girl scout leader.
