Kim Backus is an iconic, classic original - there is no one quite like her!  Kim is a Lahser 1985 grad who has struggled with Type 1 diabetes since she was 8 years old.  Her mother gave her the gift of life twice - once when she gave birth to Kim, and later when she donated one of her kidneys 28 years ago.  Because of her disease and the age of her kidney transplant, Kim's kidney function is declining.  She is unable to drive and struggles to meet her basic needs and stay connected to others, yet her strong Christian faith sustains her.  She was a hairdresser for over 30 years and has recently started doing haircuts in her home salon to help make ends meet.  Any donation would assist in paying medical and daily living expenses.
