My wife Kim and I need your help. We are trying to keep our home for the rest of 2024 until I start receiving social security in January. Currently, I'm fighting for disability in a case that has dragged on for 3 years now. That may still come through, but in the meantime, we are really stuck in a bad situation right now. Kim will be having open-heart surgery before the end of the year, something that has needed to be done for a couple of years now but got delayed due to my major health issues in 2022 and 2023. I had 3 colon surgeries in 2022 and started off 2023 with another in January. That was followed by needing a stent put in my main artery in February. In the process of another anesthesia-requiring procedure to look at my stomach, a growth was found on my voice box. That required surgery in August. Luckily, it was benign. A CT scan of my digestive system a month later saw a large mass in my right kidney, and that one wasn't benign, so my entire cancerous right kidney was removed right before Christmas in December. This has required me to be on a short leash medically with numerous follow-ups with numerous doctors. Meanwhile, Kim's heart has gotten worse and worse; her surgery needs to happen and can't be put off regardless of anything that may come up with me.

We live as frugally as we can, but when you have just one income under $2000 a month, things can fall apart financially really fast, especially when trying to recover from major invasive medical procedures. I've been putting off some of my follow-up testing because of Kim's needs and doctor appointments. She had to have a lot of dental work done before they would do her heart surgery. We had co-pays galore for all these specialists and resulting prescriptions. We drive a 15-year-old car, and it had a major repair needed in there. Two weeks ago, our 11-year-old dog needed to have immediate surgery to remove her teeth that had gone bad, causing her to stop eating and drinking. Luckily, she's been going to the same vet since she was a puppy, and other pets years before that, so the vet was able to get some charity funding to pay for part of the surgery and will work with us on the rest.

The next few months are going to be trying enough with Kim’s surgery without the immediate worry of losing our home before, during, or after her heart surgery. If you can help us at all, even a little, we’d be greatly appreciative! Thank you and God bless!
