Two and a half years ago my cousin, Kim King, underwent thyroid surgery in what we thought would be a relatively routine and quick surgery. When they tested the lymph nodes around her neck it was discovered that she had B cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and all glands and lymph nodes in this area was removed. She was advised that chemo and radiation would be the next step to ensure that the cancer was eradicated throughout other lymph nodes.
Kim was told that if she could pass the two years mark her chances of life would be 80% survival and she had passed that two-year mark in March, 2022. In May of 2022 she began experiencing severe stomach pain and a CT scan was done on May 5, 2022 (her 58th birthday) which revealed that a secondary cancer had occurred and was in her pancreas and had already metastasized to her liver. Numerous tumors were found in the liver and a large tumor on her pancreas was pushing on other organs and her stomach and back. Kim has been in and out of the hospital since May 5th, the pain is unbearable and they have tried many painkillers which has not given much relief. The doctors said she was terminal, maybe 3 to 6 months at the most. We later learned that pancreatic cancer is the most painful of all cancers and very hard to treat.
For those who know Kim and Mark (her husband of 35 years), they are the most compassionate, loving, giving and helpful couple you will ever know. Mark has not left her side throughout this ordeal, their two boys, Mitchell and Blake, are trying to work and sustain some kind of normalcy, while at the same time help their dad care for Kim. Their unselfish love and devotion to their mother is a true example of unconditional love.
The medical bills and daily expenses are piling up causing more stress to an already stressful situation. As a family member I am asking for your help in helping Kim and Mark during this difficult time with expenses and medical bills. Our family and their many friends love Kim and Mark and want to do something to help them during this emotional, devasting time. We ask that you keep Kim and Mark and the boys in your prayers, pray for comfort and peace for Kim, and the strength and knowledge for Mark and the boys in making major decisions concerning Kim, as they continue to take care of her.
