Hey, my name is Ed, that’s me on the left. All the way on the right is my amazing spouse, Kim. In between us is Bodhi. Bodhi has a seizure disorder that requires expensive medication.
In January of 2023, Kim lost her job at the county. Despite applying, and interviewing, for many, many jobs, the effort hasn’t been successful, and the search continues. Kim received her final Unemployment check in November.
In March of 2023, my sibling moved from Texas to live with us, as their university teaching position was ending. My sib has a number of long term health challenges related to a Lyme disease infection causing permanent neurological damage. As a result, they're not readily employable, and they too have pets with veterinary needs, and no income.
So here we are, hats in hand. We’ve extinguished our savings. We have reduced expenditures, eliminated services, tightened the budget, sold a car, and are still facing a month to month shortfall. Some bills aren't getting paid, and very soon, we won’t be able to afford the household bills and our mortgage obligations. Kim has even started taking TaskRabbit jobs. You can request her service here.
Medication and veterinary expenses for Bodhi are about $500 a month. Medication for all the humans in the household comes to about $500 a month as well. We're hoping to have a resolution to employment problems by the summer, so I've estimated our extra needs at $1000/m for 6 months.
Times are tough for everyone these days, and I understand many people can’t afford charity. If you can though, please help.
