United for Black Lives are fundraising on behalf of Kill the Bill Official in order to oppose the dacronian PCSC Bill. As the movement has continued Kill The Bill is also in resistance to other oppressive legislation such as the Nationality and Borders Bill.
The bill seeks to seriously clamp down on peaceful protests, effectively rendering them meaningless, expand on police’s racist stop and search practice, criminalise the traditional Traveller and Roma ways of life and discipline disadvantaged and targeted school kids by locking them away in "Secure Schools". This is the latest in a series of coordinated attacks from our government, handing more power to the police and the state, while our own legal protections and rights are taken from us.
We will not allow this to happen. Already the PCSC bill has proven to be incredibly unpopular and has seen momentous pushback across the country. Since March last year, the #Killthebill movement has been working tirelessly to inform the British public about the harms that the policing bill, and other undemocratic legislation this government is trying to force through under our noses, will cause.
From Glasgow to Brighton we have marched alongside thousands, and been joined by prominent political figures like Jeremy Corbyn, Zarah Sultana, Bell Rodrigo-Abbey, Lowkey, and members of the house of Lords, supporting our cause. Most recently, we came out ON MASS for our first demonstrations of 2022, where we joined forces with Another Europe Is Possible to combine our protest with theirs against the Nationalities and Borders Bill (anti-immigration bill) on Saturday, and on Monday, #killthebill danced outside the House of Lords as they finally heard our pleas and voted in our favour against the scary amendments to the bill.
But we still need your help. The PCSC bill will still be a violent, terrifying attack on almost all communities. The Nationalities and Borders bill seeks to strip nationalities away from first, second and third generation British Citizens, at the free will of our Home Secretary. The Judicial Review and review of the Human Rights Bill would remove our right to challenge Government in courts. The Official Secrets act seeks to strip journalists of the right to report on illegal Government actions. The Voter ID bill could block many, many working class and immigrants to the country from their right to a vote. Among other horrifying new laws. This movement is about fighting against all of this oppressive, dictatorship-like legislation,
So far, Kill the Bill Official has run solely on the skills, dedication and time volunteer activists have been willing and able to give, but we need to support each-other to remain in the fight, support the national coalition of anti-PCSC bill and Kill The Bill groups, and support sibling organisations who are focusing on other forms of oppressive laws.
