Kilkenny to Gambia; 6000km Supporting Gambias Charities
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
We are Max and Noel, a father and son from Kilkenny, and we're about to embark on a very special journey: driving from Kilkenny, Ireland to Banjul, The Gambia – a distance of around 6,000 km. But this is no ordinary road trip. We’re driving in a car that belonged to my granduncle, Sean Lucey, who sadly passed away in 2021. Before he passed, Sean generously gifted the car to my dad, Noel, a dream my dad had for many years.
We want to honour Sean’s memory, as well as the memory of my Nana Anne and my Grand-auntie May- who have also passed - by taking this car on a journey to The Gambia as part of the Dakar Challenge that will not only celebrate their lives but also make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Upon arrival, the car will be auctioned off, and all the proceeds will go directly to local charities. But we want to do more. We are raising additional funds to make an even bigger impact by supporting local communities in The Gambia.
All donations will go to the Rotary Club, who will distribute the funds to a variety of incredible local charities, including:
* Bijilo School
* Sight Box for blind children
* Bakoteh Village
* Legs for Africa
* And many more community initiatives!
This journey is about so much more than travel- it’s about giving back and keeping the memories of Sean, Nana and May alive through acts of kindness and generosity.
We’re asking for your support to make this journey a success. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help make a real difference to the lives of people in need in The Gambia. If you can’t donate, please help by sharing this page with your friends and family. Every bit of support means the world to us.
Thank you so much for being part of this special journey.
With thanks,
Max & Noel
