Greetings from Kigali, Rwanda! Myself (Casey Moore) and another active-duty service member (Jesse Neace) are excited that you have chosen to consider helping make our dream of summitting Mount Kilimanjaro a reality! A little background…we are both active duty Soldiers that are currently serving at U.S. Embassy Kigali in Rwanda. We have been invited alongside our department of state colleagues to summit Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest free-standing mountain at 19,341 feet). This has been a dream of both of ours for years and we are finally afforded the opportunity to accomplish this as we are geographically close to the mountain. Although this is a great opportunity, there are some pretty heavy costs associated with such task. I have created this GoFundMe to send to our dearest family, friends, and colleagues (civilian and military alike) to assist in funding this trip for us. If you are unable to donate money towards this adventure, we completely understand, and would still appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we prepare for this adventure. Between Jesse and I, we have over 30 years of combined active-duty service with multiple deployments to co bat zones across the world. If you are able to make a donation…absolutely any amount is appreciated! I want to be completely transparent that all donations will go directly to fund our hike and associated costs (mainly trekking cost and airfare). If and when our goal is met, the fundraiser will stop. If for some reason the trek gets cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, all donations will be returned to donors.
