Kilimanjaro 2023 for Ectodermal Dysplasia Society
In September 2023 I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the Ectodermal Dysplasia Society. The ascent to the highest point in Africa will take 7 days and finish at 5,895m above sea level.
I have chosen the Ectodermal Dysplasia (ED) Society as they have been extremely supportive to my friend, Leonie, and her family in helping with referrals and operations from a very young age.
You can read her story here.
The funds raised will help the society provide support services and hope to families, alongside working towards finding a cure for ED. In addition to providing referrals to specialists for treatment and promoting awareness to the general public.
ED is a large group of inherited disorders characterised by a primary defect in hair, teeth, nails or sweat gland function, with the additional possibility of defects in the ears, eyes, lips, mucous membranes of the mouth or nose, and the central nervous system.
I know Kilimanjaro will be challenging but it is something I am incredibly excited about. It will be extremely rewarding to reach the "Roof of Africa" knowing that my fundraising is going towards a great cause.
Thank you for your donations to my challenge, they are greatly appreciated!
