Hey everyone, it’s the Mayer family here. I’m not used to asking for money on anything however a tragedy has struck my household. Never thought I seen the day of this happening in my neighborhood on base but it has and now I have to take the proper actions in saving our family dog Kiko’s life. So here’s the story. Sunday October 4th 2020 my wife and I were walking kiko like we do every night on his leash as base rules require. Suddenly two huge dogs come over to us running loose and grab our kiko by neck and by the eye to left eye area. As my wife screams I realize I have to do something to save our dog so I start punching one the dogs and finally it lets go. Realizing that kiko isn’t squealing anymore I think he’s dead so I fill with rage and I pull my knife and put it to the attacking dogs throat to kill it. Suddenly some guy pushes me off the dog and begs me not to kill it. So I drop my knife and the neighbour lady comes and try’s to help me still get kiko from the dogs gasp. The attacking dog refuses to let go so I put both my hands on it’s jaw and pry it open to release kiko. Luckily kiko wasn’t dead but my wife Kenia still has kiko crying because he’s bleeding from his neck. I run over to comfort her and try to calm her down and also to check on kiko condition. After two minutes I realized I didn’t get the owners name or the dogs photo or something  so I run out to start asking question and both men were gone like they were never there. I searched for them for hours it seemed and to no avail found no one. So I will continue searching my district until I find these dogs and the owners. I honestly can’t believe someone would run off like that. I personally wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I knew my dog did something like that. My wife can’t sleep. My daughter is traumatized. And I am just disappointed in myself because I’m supposed to be his protector and I let this happen to him. Everyone that has met kiko knows the type of dog he his. Very well trained and would never hurt anyone. I won’t to make this known and maybe change your decision when you decide to walk you dog be cautious of your surroundings because this could happen to anyone of us. Kiko medical bills are high and that’s why I am setting up this gofundme. I hate asking for money but I know that I will be taking kiko to more vets in the coming weeks. His left eye will not close and he is currently blind with a low percent chance of ever seeing with that eye. My family and I are not giving up on kiko. Thank you everyone.
