Aloha!

We are sharing on behalf of Kiʻi Kiʻi Farms and ʻOhana Lindo & Worthington, whose family farm and home were inundated by the recent severe flooding across Waialua, O’ahu. Like many in the community, they experienced devastating back-to-back floods just one week apart, with the majority of their farm being fully submerged. Their ʻohana is safe, but losses to their property have been extensive.

While the upstairs portion of their home still stands, the other dwellings and farm land could not endure the extreme flooding. Water and mud damage to these living spaces and farm structures were irreversible, requiring remodeling and entire replacement for many things. This includes two studio homes, an agriculture processing structure, multiple solar generator systems that provide power to the homes, a tractor, riding mower, army diesel generators, and other farming equipment. Right now, their most urgent need is rebuilding safe living conditions, and restoring the farm to proper working order. Funds will go directly towards replacing essential equipment and farm infrastructure.

About the ʻOhana

Deeply rooted in the North Shore, the Lindo & Worthingtons are a multigenerational, ocean loving ʻohana. Kamaki has served as a firefighter in the area for 25+ years, while raising a daughter with his wife, Keiki. He also oversees a native Hawaiian wa’a based nonprofit in Hale’iwa, educating youth on indigenous sailing practices, adopting a navigator’s mindset, and problem solving both in and out of the canoe. Alongside them are Kawai & Nichele, who are teaching their two children, through ocean and farm life, how to care for the ʻāina. Built upon a shared kuleana to the land, the farm is their children’s legacy. They hope to remain there for many years to come and continue building a future for their keiki.
